Hallo to Wiccaweys. This is Tigger woofing. I have been with
my people now for exactly two years and I am sending you a photograph of me in
my kitchen with one of my smaller chews! I still share the house with my ‘sister’
Katie, the Collie/Jack Russell Cross. She is still very bossy and quite a bit
cleverer than me, but I make it up with my clumsy loving nature, my big smile,
and my handsome eyes. People in the village stop to talk to me and they often
say to my Mum and Dad “What is he?”. They say I am a Bearded Collie
and I am (almost). Katie and I love to play tug a war with a big piece of rope.
We growl a lot at each other, but we are great pals really. Katie is a bit
pushy and she tries to get everywhere first, but I usually wait at doors for everyone
to go through before me. I have never learned how to open a door that is ajar,
so I’m often found waiting behind open doors waiting to come in. People
say I have a “lovely nature”, whatever that is. When my Mum and Dad
are away (like on holiday abroad or something) I go to stay with my fosterer
Helen. This is brill, because she has acres of garden and there are other dogs
to chase and be chased by. Usually though I like my routines, such as cuddles
in the morning, meals at the right times, lying next to Mum or Dad’s
computer, ball in the garden after dinner, and walks around the village. I also
like it when they take us to the beach and I can run lots. Katie barks at the
ducks (we have lots of ducks in our village) and other dogs in gardens half a
mile away. I sometimes join in with my special “woof, woof” in my
very deep voice. (I never go “woof”, always “woof, woof”.
I don’t know why). The neighbours don’t seem to mind as they
always talk to me when they pass by the garden gate. I can still get a bit
excitable when I meet other dogs when I’m out walking. I did have some “special
training” so I don’t do it much, but when I see active dogs like
black Labradors or terriers it brings out the “jump and lunge” in
me. However, when I meet quieter dogs I’m “very well behaved”
and I get a treat. Anyway, I’m now three and a half and a very happy dog.
Thank you Wiccaweys for finding me a home where they love me. Woofs and licks,
Tigger (Tiggy, Tigs Tigglewoof)

Letter from Lassie and family
Hi Sarah and Paul
Thanks for all your help and advise on Saturday when Margaret and lassie adopted
each other. I have posted the lead back to you that you kindly lent us for the
journey home. I enclose a few snaps of lassie settling in with Margaret. She was
very well behaved during the journey and seemed thirsty when we arrived but soon
settled and has eaten well ever since. She has a day bed in the kitchen also a
night bed in the bedroom, she also has her own chair in the lounge but tried to
claim the sofa a couple of times before being relegated to her chair. They are
great company for each other and are able to share their time together in a
wonderful garden.
Thanks again
Alan Evans

Letter from Jeff (now Wolfie) & family
Dear Sarah and Paul and all my friends at Wiccaweys,
I
thought I'd let you know how I'm getting on, and have enclosed a few
photographs and even a video clip (yes, I'm a film star now). Mum says
I'm "gurt lush", which dad says he thinks means something nice in
Bristolian, although he's not quite sure what. I'm
enjoying my new life so far and have had lots of new experiences and
adventures, including a day out on the beach at somewhere they call
"Sunny Hunny". We walked for miles along the sand, and I saw the sea
but I didn't want to go in as it looked a bit scary and was also very
cold.
My new mummy and daddy are trying
not to spoil me but find it hard to resist my charms. In return, I'm
happy to oblige when they ask me to "sit" or "down" or "settle", and
I've even been nice to their cat, Widget, despite her giving me the
evils and punching me on the nose a couple of times for taking
liberties. I didn't like the wood fire at first, but now I know it's
not going to hurt me. I don't even mind the noisy bird scarers, even
though they are quite close to the house. It's nice living on the
village green, with plenty to see from the window, and I've already made
friends with some of the neighbours, especially Mr Tan Rose the
Butcher.
I'm now answering to the name of
Wolfie, after somebody called Citizen Smith, which was my new dad's idea
(he was not too keen on the name Jeff because mum had an ex boyfriend
of that name!). I don't mind as I'm a bit of a rebel myself, and I
don't really care what they call me, if there's a treat attached. I
picked it up very quickly after being called Jeff-Wolf for a couple of
days. I have a lovely new red collar with pirates on and a tag with my
new phone number and postcode, and I think I look very cool indeed. Mum
is returning my old collar to you by post, with a couple of sweaters for
medium sized dogs who might need them, although I won't be wearing one
as (a) I have my own coat thank you and (b) I'd be too embarrassed.
I
was on my best behaviour for the first couple of days, and I've been
very clean and quiet in the house, and haven't whimpered at all at
night. I did pull mum over yesterday, when she was teaching me recall on
a long lead, and hurt her shoulder quite badly, but she wasn't cross
with me at all and said it was her fault for not thinking it through.
I'm pushing my luck a bit now, just to see how far I can go, but I know
when I'm breaking the rules because mum says "No!" and turns her back on
me and ignores me, which I hate! However, I
have behaved beautifully when out and about, and even sat patiently in
the dog-friendly cafe at the seaside whilst mum and dad had a toastie
and a coffee each, and when the lady in the cafe offered me a biscuit I
took it gently and didn't snatch, which impressed dad a lot. He was also
impressed when I didn't eat his car whilst they went into Tesco on
Sunday, and mum was pleased that I didn't wee up anything whilst we
trailed round Pets At Home to buy me some dinners. I
have lots of new toys, including a rubber bone, a rubber stick, a ball
on a rope, a Kong and a funny ball with holes in (which are often full
of treats which keeps me busy) and a cuddly dog toy, but I prefer
Widget's toy mouse, which smells catty.
Mum
gave me a bath, as she said I was a bit smelly (cheek!) and I didn't
mind at all, and I really enjoyed the towelling down after. I'm getting
used to being brushed and mum says she'll introduce me to some
toothpaste soon, which she says tastes like chicken.
We're
off for another walk right now, this time along the river to the Wash
(not another bath, I hope) and tomorrow if it's nice we might go to
Sheringham where I hear there's another dog-friendly cafe with a beach.
There's never a dull moment here!
Mum
says she will keep me updated with all your news, until I learn to
read, and we will come and visit you soon and perhaps take a couple of
my old friends out for a walk. I will write again soon.
Lots of love from Wolfie xxx
PS: Are all nice dads called Paul?
PPS:
Widget says thank you for the pentacle charm which mum has fixed to a
lovely collar with reflective cats eyes, which Widget wears when she
comes with us on our bedtime walkies.
Letter from Sam & Dad
Hi Sarah & Paul,
Hope you are both well and that all is well
at Wiccaweys.
It has been two & a half years now
since getting Sam and I can't imagine life without him.
We have just had numerous visits to the vet with a
blood clotting problem but after much anguish and huge vet bills, he
is on the mend and back to his usual self.
Sam is my first dog and I was realy not sure
I was doing the right thing in getting him but we have had the most amazing time
together and I would not know what to do without him. I think we rescued each
other.
Thanks for the fantastic work and dedication that
you do.
Attached are few photos.
Once again thanks.

Letter from Murphy & family
Hello Sarah and Paul
We hope you are both well, probably freezing, can't
remember the last time it felt this cold.
Murphy is doing really well, he is an absolute
treasure, don't know how anyone could have given him up.
He was great at the vets just after we left you to
get his microchip and booster, and travelled really well. I had to get a mobile
dog groomer in after a couple of days, he was a bit smelly which was really
noticible indoors, poor love, it took us ages to get him upstairs to the bath, I
don't think he had ever done stairs before, anyway that is done now and he won't
be having that done again. If he needs another bath it can wait until the Summer
and will be done in the garden. Murphy was very placid and quiet at first, he
did not know how to play but was still very affectionate. Loves to lay his head
on my knee and get his head scratched, will do that for hours. He was also
frightened of traffic at first so quiet routes had to be used for his walks and
traffic introduced slowly, he is now much better as he learns to trust us. He
now loves his walks, needs them too since he loves his food so much. He
loves it when Stuart comes home from work, he now gets so excited to see him and
when his lead gets picked up. (Will return that collar soon too). We had already
bought a new collar, lead and bed for Murphy on the Saturday before we collected
him, we had to go and buy bigger ones on the Monday since everything was too
small for him. We have not heard him bark yet, I was watching a video on
line my friend in Italy had posted with all her noisy 24 dogs and Murphy threw
back his head and started howling. He does have a voice. So all in all things
are going really well, we are starting to see his personality now and he seems
very happy and settled. Feels like he has always been here and we love him to
bits.
Will update you again in the near future, until
then hope things are going well at Wiccaweys.
Best regards
Pat and Stuart

Letter from Pip and family
Hi Paul & Sarah
I attach some photos of Pip and her awards,
together with copies of Page 28 & 29 of the latest agility voice, which I
hope you can make sense off!
Pip and I have had an amazing year in agility. Pip
was 2nd in the Agility Club awards in Large Grade 2 dogs, for which she won a
lovely cut glass bowl, and we attended the presentation ceremony. Pip also won
the Rescue League Large Grade 2 and was the top Wiccaweys dog overall.
She received awards of 2 silver plated picture frames. We even managed to
come 2nd in the Senior Agility League for my age group!
It has been a brilliant year that far exceeded my
wildest dreams, a year which I doubt will be repeated, as Pip is now in Grade 3,
and we are up against the experienced handlers introducing new
dogs!
Pip has become a well loved part of the family, and
loves nothing better than to sit on our laps whenever she gets the opportunity.
She is thoroughly enjoying the snow!
Kind regards
Shirley Carton
