Update from Jean (now Gabby) & family

Hello to you all at Wiccaweys!

Hope all are well!
Gabby is doing fine, growing into a strong young lady!
She is constantly making us laugh with the little things she does, such as watching football on the TV- and trying to catch the ball!
We call her our 'posh bird' as she lies down with her two front paws crossed over, another little giggle we have with her!
She got an Aston Villa shirt for christmas with her named printed on the back, some of you may know she is named after a Villa player, and after sending her picture into the people who write the programme, Gabby was printed in the last programme, with a picture of her in her shirt!
She has enjoyed all this lovely hot weather by being able to have the door open so she can come and go into the garden as she pleases!
We are currently practising walking off the lead with her, and she is doing very well, she is very well behaved out in the street, as isn't bothered about anyone but who is walking her- including other dogs! She walks away from dogs and strangers!
She does have a hobby of chasing pigeons in the garden- and trying to eat the bread from the bird table!
She is doing beautifully, she loves giving kisses and cuddles, but loves nothing more than destroying new toys on the day she gets them!
She brings us so much happiness and smiles, and we would like to thank you for letting us have such a beautiful, caring young lady.
She has been with us for a year and a half, and she has amazed us with everything she does!
Thank you once again,
Gabby J's Owners x

P.S. apologies for the quality of the pictures, blackberry's haven't got the best camera's!

Letter from Tia & family

Hi Sarah, Paul and everyone,
Tia here. Hope you all had a good Easter.

I’ve just returned from my third trip to the Rhone-Alpes in France. It’s great fun there and I don‘t have a problem speaking French at all! At Christmas, there was lots of snow to run and play in and I went for long walks along the snow-shoe trails in the forest and up in the mountains. I’ve met lots of people on skis (I wasn’t too sure of them at first!) and lots of friendly dogs too, and I’m allowed to go into the restaurant there as long as I’m a good girl and sit quietly under the table (which I don‘t mind because I get a treat if I am).

This time, there wasn’t any snow, but it was great exploring the trails in the mountains and I had a lot of fun splashing around in the river and playing Pooh sticks. I’m getting to know all the local dogs, and Roxanne (a Bichon Frise) has actually stopped barking at me quite so much since we got the chance for a close-up sniff while out for a walk. Best of all, Cannai (a German Shepherd cross Golden Retriever) arrived next door for a holiday too, and we got on like a house on fire, even though she was a lot bigger than me.
I’m still going along to my training class on Thursday nights. I’m doing really well, but my mum is such a handicap! The other day, when we were trying a bit of agility training, she went off on her own round the course and left me behind! Our trainer, Helen, is very understanding. She’s got a Wiccaweys puppy too!
Here are some photos of me on my hols. I’m off to Norfolk soon, where I can play on the beach and run in the sea.
Lots of love and a big woof to you all,
Tia xxx

Letter from Paddi & family

Paddi came into our lives at age of 16 weeks.  A striking looking dog with the colouring of an alsation and ears that any rabbit would be proud of!

He initially was very timid of any new visitors to our home and would hide - maybe thinking that he was going somewhere new again.

He is now 4 years old and a happy boy.  As I type this I am thinking of him and it makes me smile.  He is such a character with boundless energy.  He has fitted into our pack really well.  We have 2 other border collies who are 8 years old - Belle and Arni.
Belle (a blue merle) loves running and chasing with Paddi. Arni (standard black and white) likes looking at tufts of grass, sniffing (anything that could be interesting in the dog world of smells) and digging holes or just kicking up dirt (well - mainly Paddi does that and Arni tries to catch the fallout!).

Paddi will skip around the garden throwing a rope toy into the air and catching it like a majorette.  He also likes to pinch things and bury them.  I have a picture of him sitting on a plant pot while the other dogs are walking around trying to find their chews, that he has pinched and hidden in the plant pot he's sitting on!

5.30am every morning I get a wet nose nudge me awake and at 9pm every night he pulls on my sleeve or slipper to go to bed.  A complex but beautiful boy who has bought a lot of happiness into our home.

I've attached some pictures of Paddi so that you can see how happy and healthy he is.

Letter from Max & family

Hi Guys
We thought we'd send you the attached piccies of Max (we got him from you just over 2 years ago...).
We love Max more than ever and can't imagine life without him...
A typical collie - he's got some strange idiosyncracies - comes for his cuddle just about every evening before bed, has adopted a space on the sofa, tries to get our (much older) other dog to play (especially as the weather got warmer) - he's a real character and wheedles his way into everyone's hearts....he'll always be 'Pup' to us...
We keep looking at the website and thinking of the time when we'll get another collie - we've noticed Chip seems to be with you for a long
time, and our heart goes out to him - he's a lot like Max...
Thank you - we really appreciate what you do - when we have some free money, we want to do more to help...
Best Regards
Dave, Sara, Jen,  Max and Ginnie Owen

Letter from Scottie (now Spot) and family

Dear Paul and Sarah,

Dear Sarah - My whole family were pleased to hear you are now home after your stint in hospital.  My parents have asked me to say you must take things easy ....... don't overdo it too soon and set your recovery back!!!!!  We all wish you well soon.
I hope you remember me, I was Scottie at Wickes, (changed to being 'Spot' in my new home).  I was adopted on 1st February 2010, and wrote later that same month (see letters Feb 2010).  Am currently so settled into my new home that Wiccaweys seems almost like a  distant dream.  There never seem to be enough hours to put pen to paper, hence I am long overdue giving you an update, but did feel I should write before I go to my new life in France - which seems to be getting ever closer - my Mum and Dad are hoping to be in Brittany before the end of the year.

I have enclosed a few piccies of my latest antics - I am having so much FUN that I don't get on the computer as often as I would like.  Last year, I visited our vet (nice people but not exactly my best friends - everything smells of dettol and they stick things up your bum) and they did something called a castration.  Not sure exactly what that is .............. but woke up one day a little 'woozy' and sore.  That was a long time ago now, but the last time I visited they said I was well muscled and toned and not too fat - I'm always asking Mum for more treats and titbits but she doesn't always oblige - even though I try to twist her round my little paw!

Anyway, just to update you, I am still living in Rutland but the cottage in France has now been extended and the plan is that we move over there permanently - possibly later this year.  Mum and Dad say it depends on 'the market', but to be honest, I don't care if we move or stay ....... I love both places equally.

I did get to visit the cottage last year after my pet passport went through - we came home the first day I was allowed to travel - but everything went off smoothly without a hiccup!  Have just returned from there again after an extended Easter holiday break - had an absolutely super time - the weather could not have been better and as the cottage is surrounded by woodland, I was in my element.  I did 'discover' the cat next door and found that she gives excellent entertainment value when chased ....... couldn't catch her though which was a bit of a frustration!   This did seem to upset both my Mum and the neighbours though, so I may be a bit more cautious before trying to catch her again!

Well - must close.  But will stay in touch whatever happens.  Got to go and learn a little French now ........ au revoir!
Love,
Spot (and 'Mum' Barbara and 'Dad' Gerald)
